Oil Pastel: Alice And Black Cat, Summer of 2005

This is a simple pastel drawing I did on some humid summer night in 2005, probably to experiment with oil pastels more and practice my drawing. The general theme is clearly something you often see with me: Alice In Wonderland, and a cat, perhaps the Cheshire Cat. Of course, in the Disney version, the Cheshire Cat is purple. However, in Lewis Carroll's writing, Alice is based on Alice Liddell, a brunnette little girl. And Alice, in that writing, is seven years old. The girl in here is, well, quite mature looking... There's really no telling what I was thinking here. Except, the girl, I suppose, was me, and I do have a dress just like that. It's not my favorite drawing, however, partially because it's a drawing of me, and it's kind of vain. Also, because the drawing just isn't that good...

But that's why it's called an experiment.
