On March 27, 2004, my friends Miki and Duc invited me to trek with them down to NYC from my Connecticut home, to see Micky Dolenz in his musical Aida. It was one of the first warm days of spring, and despite all the problems, trials, and tribulations, a kind of hopeful energy was in the air. It was a very funny weekend. But it was a lot of fun, even though we were often lost, living off of hot dogs, and I wore and slept in the same clothes for two days, not ~realizing~ I would be staying in NYC. At least it was a nice outfit. ;) Did I mention I sat in soggy Raisin Bran? |
Leaving Uconn to go home for the weekend the night before, my stuff all spread out on my dormitory bed. My stuff is so cute. |
Our trip begins late morning, March 27, 2004 [you would never know that from this photo]. It was just as I pictured, this clear spring morning, one of the first warm ones that year, the air was so sweet and inviting. |

We went to see Aida that day, and talked to Micky Dolenz after the show, since Miki and Duc are good friends with him. It was the first time I was formally introduced to him, and he was really wonderful and polite to me. I loved meeting him. I never took photos of us with him, it didn't seem appropriate at the time. We were going to see him the next day, so I thought I might take them then, but something came up in my plans, and I had to go home... I'm not sure what happened with that. |

The next day we head back to Times Square and see Aida a second time. This is Miki on the train platform, and... oh look, the time and date. |
This is Duc and I falling as Miki tried to take our picture, and the train made a sharp turn. |
The second night we went to the NYC library, and photographed ourselves by the lions before we had to leave... |
